[How to] Install GIMP 2.8 in Ubuntu 12.04

This tutorial will show you how to install GIMP 2.8 in Ubuntu 12.04 .

About GIMP :

  • GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
  • It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

How to Install :

To install GIMP 2.8 version in Ubuntu 12.04  , follow the below instructions :

Open the terminal and run the following commands to add the PPA  :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp

Again run the below command to update and Install GIMP :

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gimp
